ABOUT ABOUT

Please join us as Shippensburg University Pennsylvania State Education Association (SU-PSEA) hosts our first annual Diversity Summit.  The theme for this year is diversity in the classroom.  If you would like to learn more about the Diversity Summit and view the schedule for the day, please visit http://supseaapex.wix.com/diversitysummit.

Conference Speaker

Marvin G. Worthy, President and CEO, of Worthy Consulting & Training, LLC will be the conference presenter for The Diversity Summit.

Marvin has been a been a national leader in diversity for approximately three decades.  He travels the world spreading the message of diversity and community to colleges and universities, school districts, corporations, government agencies, and non profit organizations to increase cultural competency through awareness, understanding, and acceptance.

Marvin's interactive and facilitated training style will allow participants to become actively engaged. He maximizes group participation by utilizing real life situations, interactive activities, experimental exercises, and small group work.

As a result, The Diversity Summit conference participants will gain applicable skills, tools, and strategies necessary to manage a diverse community, workplace, and student population; to build meaningful multicultural relationships with faculty, staff and students; and to improve classroom interactions and campus climate.

Gift Baskets

We ask that visiting universities bring a gift basket related to diversity for a raffle at the end of the summit.  For each gift basket, each person from the university club that brings a gift basket will receive one raffle ticket.

Community Outreach

Our outreach event is in the form of a supply drive for LeTort Elementary School in Carlisle, PA so we ask that supplies are brought to the conference and will be collected at check in.  These supplies can a pack of crayons, a pack of pencils, a pack of dry erase board markers, or a notebook.

Supplies that were specifically asked for include:

  • Whiteboard Markers that are low odor (their #1 need)
  • Colored printer paper
  • Pencils
  • Erasers (pink wedges)
  • Glue Sticks

Additional Tickets

When a club member from a visiting university donates one item (e.g. a pack of pencils), that club member will receive one additional raffle ticket to win a gift basket.  When a club member donates two items, that club member will receive two raffle tickets and so on.

Two additional raffle tickets can be bought for $1.00 and five additional raffle tickets can be bought for $2.00.  The money from the raffle ticket sales will be used to buy more school supplies for our LeTort Elementary School.
